Disclaimer and Responsible Play

Effective October 29, 2026

BreakSheet helps you understand what a sports card product contains. It cannot tell you what you will get or what it will be worth.

1. No promises about results

Buying a spot in a break, or a sealed box or case, is a purchase of chance. You can receive cards worth far less than you paid, and you can receive nothing you wanted. Nothing on the Site predicts, estimates or promises what any break, box or case will produce, whether you will make money or lose it, or what any card will sell for. A team with a high share of hits in a checklist can still produce few valuable cards in a given break.

2. What the numbers are, and are not

  • Hit counts, shares and averages count each player's card in each set on the checklist (a set with 10 players counts 10). They do not count physical copies, and they do not weigh how valuable a card is. A star rookie autograph and a low-demand autograph count the same.
  • Odds come from the manufacturer's published figures or are worked out from them (for example, packs per box and boxes per case). They are averages over many boxes. They are not a forecast for one box.
  • Rankings such as “Most hits by team” describe the checklist only. They are not a statement that one spot is worth more or less than another, or that a price is fair or unfair.
  • Missing or changed information. Manufacturers can change checklists and variations after release. Check the official documents.
  • Card types are our own sorting. Which cards count as hits, and whether a card is an SSP, SP or Insert, are decided by our rules from the odds and the case size. Before a product's odds are published, they are worked out from past checklists of the same product, in the same sport and other sports, and may change. A manufacturer, breaker or seller may sort the same cards differently.
  • Teams are our own placement. A minor leaguer counts for the MLB club their printed team is affiliated with (or, for a team with no one club, the organization MLB lists them with), a card with two players counts for both, and a retired player counts for the franchise today. A break may assign spots differently: check the breaker's rules.

3. No advice

The Site does not give financial, investment, legal, tax or gambling advice, and does not recommend any purchase, seller or break. Talk to a qualified professional if you need that kind of advice.

4. Know the rules where you live

Some places regulate or restrict sales that depend on chance, and some platforms set their own age limits and rules. You are responsible for checking that you may take part where you are. We do not run or host breaks and we are not responsible for what any seller or platform does.

5. Play responsibly

  • Set a budget before you buy and spend only money you can afford to lose.
  • Do not chase losses or buy more to “make it back”.
  • Do not borrow, use money needed for bills, or use a credit card you cannot pay off to buy into breaks.
  • Take breaks from buying. Walk away if it stops being fun.
  • If you are under the age a platform allows, do not buy. Ask a parent or guardian.

If buying breaks or other chance-based products is causing you or someone you know stress or financial harm, free and confidential help is available in the US from the National Problem Gambling Helpline: call or text 1-800-GAMBLER (1-800-426-2537), or visit ncpgambling.org.
